Delta Skimmer

Where is it used

The Delta skimmer head can operate in as little as 7cm (2.75ins) of water . The lightweight construction makes it particularly valuable for beach cleanup, shoreline operations, around piers and jetties as well as in lakes, ponds, ports, harbours, rivers and inland waters.

The compact design also allows the system to operate in holding tanks and storm water pits. In fact, the Delta Weir Skimmer system is suitable for use in any calm water requiring the rapid removal of heavy concentration of oils or other floating contaminants.

How does it work

The pumps strong suction action actively induces a 180 degree flow of contaminant into the Delta skimmer head. This head is free floating and has evenly spaced inlet ports. The angle of attack can be set for different oil thicknesses and specific gravities by adjusting the balance floats fitted behind the skimmer. The diesel engine driven pump is a positive displacement pump, so the flow is not affected by differing viscosities of contaminants. The pump has remarkable suction capabilities, can self prime and also run dry for short periods.

Which oils will it recover

The system is designed to handle light to medium oils although the pump is capable of pumping much higher viscosity pollutants.

Who can operate it

Due to the very simple nature of the system and ease of portability, the Delta Weir Skimmer can be used by a single, unskilled operator. The Delta Weir Skimmer has a robust lightweight skimmer head, ideal for use in shallow water or confined, inaccessible areas where the use of larger skimmers would be impractical.
